IBM PhD Fellowship awarded to Frank Frößler

Frank Frößler, Ph.D. candidate with the Management Information Systems Group at UCD and member of the Centre for Innovation, Technology & Organisation (CITO), has been awarded with the IBM Ph.D. Fellowship Award for the academic year 2006-07.

The award is a worldwide competitive program which recognizes both the quality of the student as well as the institution. The IBM Ph.D. Fellowship Program honours exceptional Ph.D. students in an array of focus areas of interest to IBM and fundamental to innovation. IBM Ph.D. Fellows are awarded tuition, fees, and a stipend of US$17,500 for one academic year.

Frank's Ph.D. is concerned with the implications of IBM Workplace Collaboration Services (WCS) on people’s work practices. More specifically, the project is interested in how WCS mediates (or disrupts) work practices and how the use of WCS is negotiated and learned over time.
