Innovations in IT have reshaped the way people and organizations, both large and small, interact and collaborate with each other around the globe, and have accelerated geo-political and economic interdependencies. As we marvel at the way IT innovations have altered the social, political and economic fabric of global societies, we have a responsibility to make future IT innovations support economic and social development and bring about an era of renaissance that address future challenges such as environmental sustainability, collaboration to solve persistent problems, and work processes and innovations to advance and leverage new knowledge, and economic and social security and well-being of all global citizens.

From August 4-7, the Association for Information Systems (AIS) and OU's SBA -- in partnership with regional universities -- Michigan State University, Wayne State University, Central Michigan University, Grand Valley State, Kettering University and University of Michigan-Dearborn -- is bringing its 17th annual Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS) to Detroit for the first time.

At this conference, business professionals from this region and academics, representing universities from 40 different countries, will discuss the IS business challenges and research that will impact future innovations in IT, as well as its impact IS curriculum and education of future workforce.
