WHO Rapid Alert System

Early warning and coordination systems at the international level are an important piece of the global battle against counterfeit drugs, medicines and medical devices entering the human supply chain.

The World Health Organization has developed a prototype rapid alert reporting service for counterfeit drug incidents and to disseminate of first response information.

This system serves as a rapid alert mechanism for WHO, Member States, and partner organizations for combating counterfeit medicines in the Western Pacific Region. When counterfeit medicines are detected in the Region and reported through the Rapid Alert System, relevant authorities are alerted immediately and time-sensitive actions are taken.
