The journey from a monolith to services based architecture is a well trodden path for companies that grow to massive scale. This talk discusses this path for DemonWare, focusing first on scaling the database layer and then discussing the challenges with migration of the application layer.
Damien Marshall is Engineering Manager at DemonWare. The company was formed in 2002 by graduates from Trinity College Dublin. The company's software is used to manage state data in massively multiplayer online game applications. DemonWare was acquired by ActiVision in 2007 and retains its head office in Ireland.
