Seminar: Quality Management Today
from 11:00 AM to 11:55 AM
A seminar by Visiting Prof S P Mukherjee, from the Indian Association For Productivity, Quality And Reliability.
With the growing demand for better Quality in an increasing array of products and services and the emphasis on various models and techniques for Assurance and Improvement of Quality, we need to integrate the many tools and techniques---simple or sophisticated, engineering or statistical--in the broad area of Quality Management. Since Quality Management refers to a host of Quality-related activities within an organisation, Knowledge Management becomes essential for Quality Assurance and Improvement. Most statistical tools used in Quality Management have not been duly examined and adequately updated to keep track of modern production and inspection systems. In fact, problem-solving is the key issue and methods for problem solving like the six-sigma or the 8D methodologies are more acceptable. Similarly, greater attention is now being paid on Quality of Design and on concepts and practices for Design Improvement through Quality Function Deployment and TRIZ tools.
