The LSE Identity Project on the UK Identity Cards Scheme has been one of the most high profile pieces of academic research in recent times. In this presentation, Edgar Whitley will review the role that academic policy analysis played in informing the debate about this important and wide ranging piece of legislation. With the identity cards scheme forming a basis for a national identity infrastructure, he will particularly reflect on the implications of this research for information systems academics.
